Hemp Trivia

The oldest relic of human industry is a piece of hemp fabric (canvas) found in ancient Mesopotamia dating back to approximately 8000 B.C. The oldest surviving piece of paper was made over 2000 years ago in China and was also made from hemp fibre. In 2500 B.C. the pharaohs used hemp in the construction of the great pyramids.

Hemp was so important in England in the 16th century that King Henry VIII passed a law in 1553 which fined farmers who failed to grow at least one quarter acre of hemp for every 60 acres of arable land they owned. There was even a time in history for over 200 years when you could pay your taxes in America with hemp. In 1850 there were more than 8,300 hemp farms in the United States.

Betsy Ross sewed the first American Flag with hemp cloth.

The original “Levis” were made from durable hemp denim canvas.

Henry Ford made a hemp car that would not smash with a sledgehammer.

In ancient Egypt the Pharohs used hemp in building the pyramids.

Industrial hemp is not marijuana - if you smoke it you simply get a headache.

1776 The Declaration of Independence is drafted on hemp paper.

Hemp Seed is far more nutritious than even soybean, contains more essential fatty acids than any other source, is second only to soybeans in complete protein (but is more digestible by humans), is high in B-vitamins, and is 35% dietary fiber. Hemp Seed does not contain THC.

Hemp was used to help clean up the Chernobyl nuclear disaster site (due to its ability to suck radioactive toxins out of the ground).

Why is hemp so special?

Hemp is by far the earth's leading resource. It is extraordinary because alone, it has the capabilities to reverse the greenhouse effect, purify our water, clothe us and shelter us.

It will grow in any state in America and most provinces of Canada, Europe and Asia. In warm climates it can be a year round crop. In most other places it can be harvested twice a year.

If Hemp crops were planted in only 6% of existing farm land it would provide all of our gas and oil needs ending our dependence of fossil fuels. It is the only biomass source known capable of making the planet energy independent.

Hemp is a very easy crop to grow; well it's a weed, so it grows fast, easy and anywhere. It yields 3-6 tons per acre on any land that grows wheat, corn or oats. It is extremely easy on the earth, due to it's density of leaves and standing 8-12ft above the ground it chokes out all other weeds eliminating the need to use chemicals or pesticides. The hemp plant is capable of withstanding heat, mildew, and insects and is not damaged by light.

The earliest record of hemp being weaved into fabric dates back to 8,000-7,000BC.

60+ years of government suppression of information has resulted in virtually no public knowledge of the incredible potential of the hemp fiber or its uses.

If all fossil fuels and their derivatives, as well as trees for paper and construction were to be banned in order to save the planet, reverse the greenhouse effect and stop deforestation...there would only be one source known and capable of providing the worlds demand for paper, clothing, transportation, industrial and home energy needs, while at the same time reducing pollution, rebuilding the soil, cleaning our atmosphere...that substance is Cannabis Hemp.
